Med board suspends doc for ‘impairment’ during surgery
A high-profile Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center plastic surgeon spotlighted in the Herald on Sunday because of an “impairment” during recent surgery has temporarily lost his license over allegations that the doctor has a substance-abuse problem.
Dr. Loren J. Borud, 44, allegedly nodded off twice during a liposuction procedure June 27, and had bloodshot eyes and appeared tired during another procedure that day, according to the Board of Registration in Medicine, which yanked his license yesterday. He is now in an inpatient rehabilitation program, according to the board.
