BOSTON - Gov. Deval Patrick on Monday nominated Suffolk Superior Court Judge Ralph Gants to fill a vacancy on the Supreme Judicial Court, citing the jurist’s "intellectual horsepower" and "reverence for justice" as reasons to add him to the state’s highest bench.
If confirmed by the Governor’s Council, Gants would replace retired Justice John Greaney. Gants is Patrick’s second appointment to the SJC.
