Rubber meets the road

The state Department of Revenue may release its August tax collection figures as soon as this morning and you can bet that the folks on Beacon Hill waiting for those numbers are sweating it out.

With a report by the State House News Service taxpayers have been briefed on just how ugly the commonwealth’s budget situation truly is. And if the August revenue figures fall short of expectations, well, the time for dramatic action will have arrived.
