US ambassador summoned over Pakistan strikes

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Pakistan summoned the U.S. ambassador today to protest a suspected American missile strike deep inside its territory as a militant group threatened to attack foreigners unless such raids stop.

The reaction shows the risks Washington faces as it seeks to eliminate al-Qaida and Taliban fighters blamed for attacks inside Afghanistan without destabilizing its nuclear-armed ally.
