THE FIREMAN
The Fireman is Paul McCartney. Well, McCartney and his sidekick on this project, Killing Joke and Orb producer Youth. Their previous pair of Fireman releases consisted of self-indulgent experimental electro-instrumentals. “Electric Arguments” is a much different affair. The ex-Beatle sings on most tracks, each one of which was written, recorded and performed by a multitracked McCartney in a single day. Sounding unfettered and relaxed working in partial anonymity, McCartney cuts loose: screaming his lungs out on the opening “Nothing too Much Just Out of Sight,” evoking the Beatles, Wings and his solo recordings here and there, and piling on instruments everywhere while getting psychedelic, but not too far-out. The 66-year-old Macca has found his Fountain of Youth. Download: “Sing the Changes.”
