‘Knight’ brightens ’08

Hollywood’s summer paycheck got a hefty bonus - thanks to “The Dark Knight,” the most popular movie in America since 1997’s“Titanic.”

With more than $500 million in domestic box-office gross earnings as we approach Labor Day weekend, which officially ends Hollywood’s Summer ’08, Christopher Nolan’s Batman sequel was such an enormous moneymaker for Warner Bros. that the studio opted to pull its next Harry Potter [website] film from its November holiday berth and hold it until next summer. Due to the writers strike and the ongoing threat of an actors strike, next summer looks to be shy of blockbusters.
